Everyday life is full of interesting subjects and amazing effects of light and shade. I work mainly in oil and watercolour and in the open whenever possible.  Subjects I particularly like include all kinds of huts and houses, allotments, seashore and beaches and London life, particularly along the Thames. Water birds often stray in, with ripples posing yet another challenge.  In the Mall one can sometimes see mounted guardsmen, a great thrill which has resulted in several paintings.  I often work on several pieces at once.  Moving from one to another can help to keep a fresh approach.

As well as attending adult education classes, I belong to Croydon and Bromley Art Societies and am also an Associate of the Armed Forces Art Society, exhibiting annually in the Mall Galleries in London.
